What Harvest does:

Stores Church Data

Harvest is a database with cloud-stored data about churches in a country or a region. For every denomination usersĀ  can decide what information to store, e.g. denomination, membership stats, year founded, pastor contact information, and mailing address.

Maps

Harvest produces three kinds of maps:

  • Interactive, colour-coded maps showing percentage of Christians in a country, province, district, or town. Clicking on an area results in a pop-up window with statistics on that area. For an example, click here.
  • An interactive church location map, with a colour-coded dot for each church. The map is zoomable and filters can be applied. Clicking on a church results in a pop-up window with information on that church. For an example, click here.
  • License holders can create basic static maps, using their own parameters, for inclusion in publications and presentations.

Church directory

Straight from the database a website is populated with data that produce a separate web page for every church. This results in a powerful church directory that can be access by geographic location, denomination, or worship language. For an example, click here.

Reports and graphs

Many standard reports and graphs are available to licensed users and are produced by one click, using the most current data. Examples include: percent Christians per province; unchurched districts; church directory for a denomination; mailing labels; yearly Christian growth; graphs of churches planted in each year.

Harvest has elaborate search options. Many reports and graphs can be produced for any set of selected churches (e.g. all Thai speaking churches located in Bangkok with 1150-250 members that were founded in the last decade).

What makes Harvest powerful:

Public and limited access sections

Harvest databases have a front-end and an back-end. At the back-end, the owner of the database has access to the full database and to all reporting capabilities. At the front end, maps and a church directory are displayed, which may be on a publically available website. The owner of the database decides how much of the data are available on the front-end.

Customisation

Clients starting to use a Harvest system almost always need data fields and reports that are specific to their situation. Church Cloud Solution is happy to work with you to accommodate these needs. We design a system that will show precisely what you need, that has labels that make sense to you, and that has no confusing clutter.

Licenses

The owner of a Harvest system can grant full or partial access to the database through licenses with a secure log-in system. The owner of a national church database may e.g. sell licenses to researchers; denominations tracking their own data; or organisations that get access to churches they work with. If the Harvest system is for internal use within an organisation, several people within the organisation may get access to the part of the database that is relevant to them.

International

Harvest is very flexible system and can be adapted to any language. The data (e.g. names of churches) can be stored in one or two languages, allowing for a wider audience to use the system in their native language. The interface of the system can be translated in however many language are needed, so even minority languages in a country can have access to the system in their native language.

Crowdsourcing

When the database owner decides to have a website with a church directory, crowdsourcing is possible. Visitors to the website can send in new data and correction to old data and pictures of churches. After an administrator has okayed the suggested changes, they become part of the database.

Data can be sent in through the website, or using an Android app. Using the app has the added advantage that GPS-coordinates of churches are automatically added as well.

Easy to use

Each Harvest system is set up and configured by Church Cloud Solutions after an in-depth consultation with the client. No additional software needs to be installed. All you need is a web-browser.

The church database screens areĀ  easy to use by non-technical persons. The screens have a logical flow. All the options are spelled out. Users will also only see fields relevant to their needs and will only be able to update fields for which they have been granted permission to do so.

Safe

Security and privacy are among our top priorities. Through various layers of security, Harvest systems are just as secure as on-line banking software. All data are encrypted and impossible to retrieve for those who want unauthorised access. We use two factor authentication and only log you in after you have entered a code that you received by SMS.
